Meet Our Mascot: Caesar

Caesar’s Story

Way back in the year 1776, Delaware state representative Caesar Rodney signed the Declaration of Independence. He became famous for this and many other accomplishments… but little do historians know that Caesar Rodney had a beloved pet fox. With his influence, the fox later became the official state animal of Delaware.

Many generations later, the fox is still revered here, and the species itself is plentiful in this state. One particular young animal has been drawn to Delaware’s NBA D-League franchise—the 87ers—by his unconditional love for the game of basketball and its passionate fans.

Having taken on the name of one of our founding fathers, CAESAR THE FOX is welcomed with open arms by the Sevens. The team knows the community and the fans will welcome him too.
