WILMINGTON, DE – FEBRUARY 22, 2017 – The Delaware 87ers will host The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation Night, presented by UDance, in a collaborative effort to raise awareness of childhood cancer. The event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Bob Carpenter Center when the team takes on the Raptors 905 at 7 p.m. ET.
Sevens players will wear special-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off to fans to benefit The B+ Foundation (pronounced “be positive”). Also contributing to the effort, Delaware Express will be sponsoring Bank for a Bucket, in which they will donate $50 to The B+ Foundation for each free throw that the Sevens make that night. The Delaware Express team and owner (a 1979 survivor of non-Hodgkin’s, lymphoblastic lymphoma) are proud to support the B+ fight for a cure.
UDance, the largest student-run philanthropy group at the University of Delaware, is a yearlong effort to raise awareness and funds to help The B+ Foundation fight childhood cancer. The event culminates in a 12-hour dance marathon, which will be held on Sunday, March 12 at the Bob Carpenter Center. The organization benefits The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, which was founded in 2007 in memory of Andrew McDonough. Joe McDonough, father of Andrew, will be presented with his very own jersey and speak about the organization on the court during the game.
Additionally, representatives from UDance groups will participate in a Knockout Cancer Tournament during the second quarter. The final three contestants for both the men and women will be invited back for the finals at halftime. The two winners will each receive a custom Sevens jersey, and their B+ Heroes earn their own jerseys and one-day Sevens contracts. All B+ Heroes in attendance will be treated to an ice cream social during the third quarter.
