SEVENS ACQUIRE DERRICK BYARS

WILMINGTON, DE – FEBRUARY 27, 2017 – The Delaware 87ers today announced that the team has acquired forward Derrick Byars.

Byars (6-7, 220) was chosen by the Portland Trailblazers with the No. 42 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, and his rights were then traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. He has appeared in two games with the San Antonio Spurs (2011-12), and has four NBA D-League seasons with Bakersfield under his belt. In 117 games played with the Jam (2008-14), Byars averaged 17 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal per game, and was an All D-League Second Team selection (2009) and All D-League Honorable Mention (2011). He most recently played for JA Vichy in France of the LNB Pro B (2016-17), averaging 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal per game in 16 games.
